Anova Bluetooth is rather high end of the sous-vide cooker market and I believe ideal for a more tech-savy aspirational home-cook, as its has a good performance, high precision and cooks a quantity which satisfies an average family.
Anova Bluetooth sous vide construction
Anova is very durable modell, with stainless steel and polycarbonate bottom, with rubbery plastic top and led screen. It arrives with a removable clamp, which I believe makes it really flexible to attach to any device, thin pots or very wide coolers. According to my own measures it could attached to the thinest container or something as thick as 1.45”(3.7cm). It gives great flexibility on which container you actually using. The clamp is removable, the very bottom of the stick is flat, so you could just make it stand in the middle of the water (and Anova balanced enough that it stands without support). Worth mengioning that you could adjust the height where the clamp is attached, which gives flexibility how high container you are actually using with.
The sleeve is easily removable, however I feel its not necessary enough, as the inner parts also in direct contact with the water. You might believe that very little cleaning is enough, but in my experience, there could be some dirt on the outer surface of your bag, or you could have very hard water, both require attention. The best is to keep it safe from dense water is to make a cooking with water&vinegar every now and than, it will keep your equipment nice. Important to highlight that most of the sous vide cookers created like this so Anova is neither better, nor worse.
I like that its relatively lightweight, only 2.49 lbs (1.13 kg) so easy to handle with one hand (although the clamp definitely require two hands. It does fit into a drawer, but with cable and everything will use up a good third of an average utensil drawer. To keep your drawer nice and tidy, and protect your sous-vide stick, you could invest into this case prepared especially for Anova.
Its definitely a very durable machine, I think two sensitive points are the LED screen and the heating system (if you let scale build up on it, I dont think you could ever get rid of it fully.
Precision of cooking with Anova Bluetooth sous vide
Anova is one of the most precise cooker on the market currently, which makes it a very reliable sous vide cooker even with such delicate cookings as egg, so in case of Anova you dont need to worry on temperature or make manual checks.
However, nothing is perfect. In terms of precision of cooking the timer has some little issues. In case you choose to set up your cooking manually, the timer starts as soon as you set it up, not when the water reached the set temperature, meaning you need to incorporate into your cooking time the heat-up time (app. 20 mins). Little, but very inconvenient error. In case you set up with the app, works perfectly fine.
Worth mentioning, that the performance of this cooker is 800W, which means heating up water is just take more time. (You could speed the process up, using boiled water).
Ease of use
The manual set up is very easy. You just use the knob and roll it to set up temperature and cooking time. Again little, but inconvenient thing that you need to roll the knob from the smallest value to the biggest so in case you set up a 48 hour cooking, it could take time.

The bluetooth connection is not that straightforward, sometimes it took quite a few tries to finally connect phone and device (we tested on 5m distance, which is literally nothing). It was a good 5 minutes to finally make them see each other. Another inconvenience, that if you set it up manually and than decide to use the app, everything need to be set up again. Additionally if the bluetooth connection is lost (because you have big house or thick walls), your cooking program might be reseted, so keep it in mind if you need to take your phone away from the cooker.

When Anova finish cooking, it warns you with a sigh but not stop cooking. It keeps up the temperature untill you switch it off. As it cannot ruin your meal, very handy feature, as keeps your food on the right temperature. Anova is a really great and appraised sous vide cooker even by more advanced home cooks, but still simple enough to be great for beginners. If you are an eager cook who wants to develop further, than the high precision and the easy usage makes the relatively higher price worth it. You wont be disappointed with Anova Bluetooth cooker.

I think its the question of personal preference, whether you want to cook with smart phone or not. If you not insist on it, you could find other non-connection cookers on the market. If you go for connection, you need to keep in mind that bluetooth connection only let you controlling the process at your home, but not out of your home (for that choose one of the wifi modells – like Anova wifi)

With an initial cook sous vide, followed by two rounds of frying, and a few hours in the freezer, the method is admittedly not the fastest way to make french fries, but in our self-proclaimed expert opinion, the end result is worth the wait. These fries are wonderful just simply seasoned with salt and served with a side of ketchup, and downright sublime with a drizzle of white truffle oil, handful of parmesan cheese, and sprinkle of fresh parsley or chives. We say this recipe serves four, but if you’re a true fry fiend, you might find yourself eating the whole batch.
